Air quality in Beijing is quite impressive. For so many years in China I have not been able to see clear blue sky in three consecutive days. What has been so boring in CA is rare in my hometown as well as in the state capital. However, this also demonstrated that the poor air quality in other cities is very likely to be human's fault. Beijing was really dusty two years ago. Now it is much more pleasant except for the traffic which is already one of the best in my country. There are tons of traffic laws and cops out there while the traffic is absolutely caotic, creative and stunning. I do not have a car here so I take taxi most of the time. And I am running on the average 3 red lights a day and 90% of the time the car is riding on both lanes. I go on the wrong side of the road at lest once a day. Most of the time there are 2 lanes of traffic on 1-lane road, 3 on 2 and 5 on 3. I had an accident as a passenger when another car ran a red light and hit our car on my side. In the city the average speed is under 20 mph despite my highly-motivated driver. On the freeway the traffic is going under 50. These numbers are no longer surprising to me when I saw cars going in reverse on some of the major roads. For twice, I was in that ****ing car and was thinking of killing the driver before I get killed. The road is not bad, the cars are OK and also cannot be blamed on.
